What Family do you Belong To?

I decided to look again at the story of creation after a testimony I heard the other day. A man had seen a lame person when he was a teen. The lame person was from another tribe .  In his heart, he told himself that the man was lame because he was from that particular tribe.

Later in life, after he got married, his first child was lame, the same way as that that man. Then he prayed to the Lord to heal His child. Then he remembered that thought that he had when he was younger. He cried to the Lord and repented.  After doing that for sometimes, his child's legs started healing.

This story got me thinking of the number of times we associate certain things to certain groups based on whether we like them or not.

But in the story of creation, God created all humans the same, in his own image.

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

So, this is the way God sees us; as His own image.

Genesis 1:21,25,31, Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good! And evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day.

The above verses show an interesting part of the story of creation; that at the end of each day of creation, God looked at all he had created and thought that it was good.

God created man in his image, not only physically but also spiritually. To be united to God, to seek Him, to love Him, to serve Him, to be like Him, to see things like Him,  and so to live with Him in eternity. That is why after all the animals had passed in front of Him, He did not find a suitable helper, because of his uniqueness, his close semblance to God.

So if we resemble God, we are supposed to see things from His perspective. We are supposed to remember every time our flesh pays attention to the difference in the people of another group, that we are not being like God. And that that behaviour is not aligned to the will of God.

We even prefer animals, pets, more than some groups of people.

What is amazing is that we Christians behave like this, and still consider ourselves devout.

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

The world is becoming more global superficially, and more divided indeed. Us, the bride of Christ, are not supposed to be involved in these divisions.

When the sun sets for each one of us, we shall appear before the Lord. And we shall answer for all the times we did not live the image of God.

Let us repent and turn back to God.

God loves you!
