The Pilgrim, modern day Abraham.

Updated: Jul 29, 2019

Genesis 12:1

The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.

The first day we commit to follow Jesus more closely, is the day we wouldn't forget; whether the decision is made in church, in prayer, or whether in a time of personal crises. But one of the things we will all agree is that we expected more of paradise. No problems. Quick answers to our problems. Worldly prosperity. Love from the people around us. Success in our every undertaking. As long as we tried our best to love Jesus. But soon we start learning, that our calling is more of our calling to the cross, than a calling to physical happiness.

8 But Abraham was childless for a long time. And after many tests like having to move from place to place, to having one child very late in life, to being asked to sacrifice the child, to having to witness the sin that was going on in Sodom and Gods wrath, and the narrow escape of Lot. Abraham still believed in some land, somewhere. That would come one day. Even on his death bed.

Mathew 24:13 But the one who perseveres to the end will be saved.

Our sweet Lord loves us all. And He seeks the hearts of even the wicked. He is so happy to get just one of them to change their heart. He does not overlook our struggle to follow him, He knows we are His. And he wants us to join him in appealing to our brothers and sisters to join Him. To enjoy the peace the pilgrim has. Not peace as the one given by the world. But the peace that comes only from the kingdom of God. As we walk together to the promised land, that we can only imagine..

Revelations 2:10 Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Look, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison to test you, and you will suffer tribulation for ten days. Be faithful even unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.
