How much is your soul worth?

In one of the big cities in the world, a 13 year old boy passed by a well where he used to swim. He found a small girl swimming. He was so happy to watch her as it reminded him of his childhood. He went on do work near the well.

In a short while, he heard the girl screaming, and then she began to sink to the deep part. There were over 100 adults. None moved to save the child. He didnt know what to do. He just jumped in, searched everywhere inside the water, and after a struggle, saved the girl. He said the current was so strong against him, he thought he would not make it. But he summoned all his strength, until he found her.

He was later rewarded with the General National Bravery award. We can relate to the danger and fear of having a loved one risk their life to save another.

Mark 5:13 So Jesus gave them permission. The evil spirits came out of the man and entered the pigs, and the entire herd of about 2,000 pigs plunged down the steep hillside into the lake and drowned in the water.

Assuming the cost of fully grown pig today is Kes 35,000, then the the total cost of the heard was Kes 70m.

Jesus saw it was a good decision to lose all that, to gain one lost man.

1 Cor 7:23 You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of human beings.

Jesus gave up His life for us. Before we even knew him. He saw how weak we were, and gave His life in advance. Jesus is God. Mighty, omnipotent, omniscient. So the decision was definitely right. Yet he gave up His life for us.

All this show the value of our life, in the eyes of Jesus. Very valuable.

In Psalm 8:4 David wrote:- what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?

Jesus in Songs of Solomon 4:12 You are my private garden, my treasure, my bride, a secluded spring, a hidden fountain.

We are set apart for the Lord.
